Specialized Theoretical–Practical Workshops in 3D Bioprinting

Omid Afarinan Engineering of Future Co. organizes specialized training workshops in the field of 3D bioprinting, led by a team of experts well-versed in cutting-edge biomedical technologies. These workshops are offered in short theoretical sessions (2 hours) as well as extended theoretical–practical formats, focusing on core topics such as tissue engineering principles, bioink formulation, printing processes, and their applications in regenerative medicine.

Designed to meet the educational needs of researchers, graduate students, life science professionals, and medical technology practitioners, these programs offer in-depth, hands-on learning experiences.

Comprehensive applied courses

This course, held as 40 hours of training, is suitable for individuals interested in 3D bioprinters and the process of 3D and bioprinting. The course is conducted privately, and depending on the specific section, a specialist from the Omidafarinen Engineering Future group is responsible for teaching the theoretical and practical parts. The training sections in this course are as follows:

Welcome and course overview

In this section, the participant becomes acquainted with the specialists from the Omidafarinen team who are responsible for teaching various parts of the course, and through a presentation file, the different sections of the training course are introduced.

In the form of a presentation file, the principles of additive manufacturing are explained, along with an introduction to various 3D printing and bioprinting methods, including their advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, in this section, the participant becomes fully familiar with the stages of 3D printing (using an FDM device) and bioprinting with the 3D bioprinter developed by Omidafarinen, which operates based on micro-extrusion.

In this section, mechanical engineering specialists from Omidafarinen provide training on SolidWorks software as one of the most specialized tools for creating 3D models. The training is designed so that the participant learns the basic concepts and fundamental commands for building 3D models required for common designs in 3D printers. Additionally, after this stage, the participant must complete the design of several models.

After creating the 3D model, the desired structure must be imported into specialized 3D printing software. At this stage, training is provided on Simplify3D software for 3D printing and Repetier software for bioprinting.

In some cases, it is necessary to manually modify the raw code provided to the printer for printing. In this situation, the participant needs to learn how to identify and customize commands in G-code. In this section, the customization of G-code is briefly taught.

After completing the previous stages, the participant is ready to perform printing. In this part, the participant prints several of the models they designed in the earlier stages using various materials such as PLA, PVA, and Flex.

To enter the field of 3D bioprinting, the participant needs to become familiar with the concepts of regenerative medicine and stem cells. The training designed for this section is delivered in a theoretical format.

Due to the use of bio-inks made from various biomaterials in 3D bioprinting, this section provides an initial introduction to the different types of these materials and the concept of printability in a theoretical presentation. A complete understanding of these fundamentals will be achieved during the practical exercises planned in the previous sections.

To familiarize the participant with various crosslinking methods and bioprinting of bio-inks, the participant carries out printing with materials such as alginate, GelMA, and Pluronic acid. In addition, printing of cell-laden bio-inks is also taught in this section.

In almost all cases, after performing 3D bioprinting, experiments must be planned and conducted depending on the type of tissue intended. Some of these procedures are taught both theoretically and practically.

Finally, to familiarize the trainee with the latest developments in additive manufacturing, a presentation on this subject is delivered in a theoretical format.
