The natural bone tissue structure consists of two components: mineral and organic. Hydroxyapatite (HA) with the chemical formula Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 is the main component of the mineral part of bone, acting as a reinforcing phase within the organic bone matrix (collagen). Based on this, the research team at Omidafarinan has developed a specialized bio-ink called Apatite© for bone tissue engineering applications. A unique feature of this bio-ink is the uniform distribution of HA nanoparticles within the scaffolds produced via 3D bioprinting.
